Design PCB's for various Car Audio devices for most of the big car manufacturers (BMW, Daimler, Audi) for high end car series.
There is a Freelancers team, we worked together in for Design Solutions and Idrive Monitoring Systems. The team has many clients from US and Europe: NXP (Freescale), Intel, Sandisk. The layouts designed are from medium-low to high complexity.
Designind PCBs for industrial purposes for clients like Siemens, Bosch, Nokia. The schematic complexity from low to medium high. I was working toghether with the hardware developer (in case of schematic issues discovered or to change components in case of not enough space on pcb for all components) , mechanical developer (to assure that there wer no mechanical collisions between components on PCB and housing), PCB manufacturer regarding his technical limitations and the requirements for our PCB, and the production line to ensure they are able to assembly the parts on PCB.
Designing PCB's for automotive industry for various clients like: BMW, Deimler, VW, PSA, Scania. The challenge was to make a functional pcb for mass production. The shematic complexity was low and medium but the mechanical restricttions and the restrictions to comply with the mass production assembly were challenging. PCB Designer. In those few months I worked for Idrive, I made a massive redesign of the layout as they had some problems while testing as the earlier version had some problems generating lots of the interference. As the source of interference was the uCPU-DDR, I had to move them so I can cover both uCPU and DDR with metallic shield and surround them with a GND shield.
component placement (feedback to mechanical engineer), routing (BGA - DSP and memory, DDR2 including delay tuning, GPS devices, power supply), postprocess (Gerber, NC drill, CAM checks, automatic component placement files). Earned experience with some powerful CAD tools (Allegro - Cadence, Pads - Mentor Graphics), worked on high complexity layouts (lots of high frequency DSP, many layers, memory bus tuning). For Freescale we made many test boards for Freescale custom design DSP. These boards were not made for mass production, they were made "by the book" Freescale had not many problems in using top PCB manufacturing technologies. The layouts were made with many layers (8, 10, 12). We used "Via-in-pad", "blind-via", "buried-via". Those layouts were made with some limitations (for example on Top and Bottom layers we did not made any routing except pin escapes). Those layouts were made so they have no bad influence on DSP functions while testing it with its customers. We made also a few designs made for mass production. These layouts were made as cheap as possible: only TH via, as few layers as possible, a lot of top and bottom routing (including length match tuning on top and bottom), split power planes. We also did, for all the projects we worked on, post processing tests using CAM tools. Catalin Craciun (ex. Design Solutions Manager)
Diagnose and repair the faulty PC's, mostly those still in waranty period I learned many things about most of the PC components (CPU, motherboards, graphic cards, memory modules, hdd, LAN adaptors), learned how to diagnose faulty PC components, or faulty software installs
